MONEY MONEY MONEY... or LACK OF!
by loudlady

Money...

What can I say EVERYONE needs money! It makes the world go round! If I tried to add up the amount of money I've spent in the last three months, I'm pretty sure it would be at least a thousand or more! The catch is I have no bills, no car, no real reason to spend money except for hanging out with my friends and wasting it on useless items I won't ever use again! "A penny earned is a penny saved"-Benjamin Franklin... I am a penny pincher or at least I thought I was! I tell myself the same thing every time, I won't spend all of the money I have with me at whatever given time, but some reason all I have left at the end of each trip is pennies! My dad is my primary investor and I know he is pretty much... Tired of Giving! I have a job, but I really never go to it. It is a summer job at a local place and I usually work during the holidays or during the summer. I only make $5.35 an hour and at the end of the work day I feel like I'm never going to make what I need to survive or have fun, which ever is more important at the time! I have a savings account and I believe I have about $1.07 in it! I'm so going be at a $1.10 in like a year... if interest picks up a little! I wish I wasn't like my mother... she buys useless junk all the time and considers it a bargain. Sadly, I do the same thing... I bought a pair of boots for $25 dollars and I've only wore them once! I really like them, but let's face it I could have done so much more with that money. Money is hard to earn or find, but man is it easy to blow or loose! I want to learn to save my money, so maybe I can actually use it for something I really need one day.

Dave Matthews Band!
by the_governator

Hello fellow HGISD readers! I don't know if you actually read these, or if you will actually read this particular item...but if you do!

To whom it may concern,
Saturday Caleb, Raymond, and I trekked out to Dallas to go see Dave Matthews Band in concert. It was a smooth ride up there, but we had a little difficuly actually getting into the Smirnoff Music Centre, where the concert was held on this momentous occasion...we arrived there at about 5:30, an hour and a half before it was about to start. When we parked, we started walking to the entrance. The parking lot was full of people consuming alcoholic beverages, a.k.a. beer. It looked like a party at a college frat house or something...anyways, our uncle was hooking us up for the concert, so he got one of his friends to get us in. But the trouble was that we couldn't find the place we were supposed to get in. And we called my uncle and the guy that was getting us in on their cell phones a bunch, but couldn't get ahold of him...so regrettably, I must say, we left and started to head home. But as we were on our way back, I finally got ahold of my uncle, so told us to get our (rear ends) back over there. So we headed back and got stuck in a big line of traffic to the concert...finally we made it back and got parked again (this time in a spot way farther than the original one). We called my uncle back and he guided us to the spot we were supposed to get in. It turned out to be a little side entrance that was almost "fabled" about. If you blinked, you woulda missed it...soo we finally got in and found our places on the lawn, laid out a blanket, and sat down. And awww...it felt great! So we sat there the rest of the night and watched the show. Let me just say that it was a friggin' awesome show! They had a violinist that went off the food chain! The also had a great saxophone player, trumpet player, and pianist. And of course Dave Matthews was the shiznit! A pretty funny thing that happened was this guy that was staggering in his drunkenness and passed out on the lawn. And he was out the whole show! There was this one moment during the show where he woke up and held his head and then passed out again! Anyways, to cut a long story short, the show was awesome! Well, I doubt you even got this far in this pointless blog, but if you did...the moral of the story is: don't smoke crack!

School is a Rollin'
by gina_loves_you

Goodness gracious,
School is going by so freaking fast. We are only in the 3rd week and it seems as if we are just soaring over the great big school year. Before we know it we will be ordering cap and gowns. Printing our invitations out and mailing them. Figuring out what we want in life and moving towards it. I never thought that my SENIOR year would be as great as its been so far. I've gotten closer to those I really care about and have met new ones. Everything just seems to fall into place. Like it should. Of course. However, we will soon grow apart, move on with our lives and forget about those we have left behind. School is just apart of our life. Something fantastic we all can share and experience with one each other. Never shall we forget the great experiences we all share as we move forward to our great destination. Graduation!
Good luck to you guys and may your SENIOR year be filled with bright opportunities.
love gina

addicted is an understatement.
by allison f.

myspace.

i know, i know...i talk about it all the time and my life pretty much revolves around it. i see people out in public and they look so familiar..then i realize i've seen their myspace and i do not in fact know them. when i take pictures i don't look at them and say "hey! that's a good picture!"..instead i say, "hey! that picture should go on my myspace."..also when i hear a new song i can't help but think about whether or not it should go on my page and what kinda vibe it will give off- ha! when my friends and i go out myspace is always the topic of discussion and we even hear people around us talking about it too! also myspace can start some serious drama- from changes in the top 8 to questionable comments. a few months ago i thought i would overcome this addiction and i even deleted my account but i relapsed and was back in three days.. who knew a website could have such on impact on my life and the other 90 million users? one day i'm sure another website will come along and take over the place of myspace but until that day comes people around the world will be thrilled with new comments or messages..and last but not least friend requests.

keep on keeping on tom.

doing what i am best at :)
by lmsandy

I'm going to blog about ... anything and everything that I want to complain about. Sorry .. I'm just good at it.

Ok, first of all I hate school. pretty much everything about it considering that I even have first period off and I still can't make myself wake up early enough to get ready...so I just go looking like whatever I looked like the night before...which is usually taco mayo/subway messiness...which brings me to my next point...
I have to go to work pretty much every day after school ...leaving me with just an hour to do whatever I want...which isnt even long enough to do what I really want. so I usually go to sleep for a little bit and wake up just in time to make it to work...5 minutes late. And work...ugh...work...don't get me started. I swear I have the easiest job ever, but it still gets on my nerves that I have to go up there and listen to crazyyyyy customers who want me to count out the number of pickles and olives on their freaking sanwhiches or who make me re make a salad because I cut the tomatoes on the cutting board instead of a peice of paper...wow! seriously, you have no idea how many crazy people come into subway and know my formulas better than I do! I like the people I work with and all but sometimes I just would rather be at home getting something productive done instead of just trying to find something to clean that has already been cleaned like 30 times just so I don't get fired for not doing anything.
Then of course there is all this that I am frustrated about...and on top of it..I get 20 questions every night from my mom about why she doesn't see me anymore and how upset SHE is about it. I wanna say...well I'm so sorry for you that I am so busy. I bet that is really really hard for you. I miss her too and all my family and my friends who are usually at my house while I am working...so I know if I was at home I could be spending time with them...and it would be great and all...but when she says that I feel guilty. Like I should tell her sorry for having a job and all...but anyway..
after getting off at 10 when I was supposed to get off at 8 and then coming home at about 10 45 at night and doing homework I am just ready for bed...so that I can wake up again and do the same thing over and over again...
I am just glad that I have weekends and great friends. thank goodness for those two things because when they come together i really just forget about all the bad stuff going on and try to have a good time! :) then again there is always that paycheck that makes it pretty much worth while too...so I guess after all my complaining I can't really complain at all (yeah right!)

Cost of Living
by rknelson

I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to get really concerned about our current cost of living. We've all seen gas prices rise drastically in the last year or two with no relief in sight. It's so sad to think that one hour of minimum wage work will barely buy one or two gallons of gas for a car. And what about the rising cost of electricity and propane now? We're stuck in a two-year drought with extremely hot temperatures and our utility bills just keep rising! Some people are having to choose between paying their electric bill or buying groceries for their family or buying medicines. The poor farmers are having to sell their cattle because they have no grass and they're running out of hay. Next year we will have a shortage of beef because there will be few baby calves. We'll probably have to pay extreme prices for beef next year in addition to our high gas prices and utility bills! It's getting scary!

Blocked Sites!
by hlmilford

I completely am aware of the fact that we are in an educating environment and that certain sites should be blocked and unaccessible. Some sites on the web shouldn't be allowed to be accessible from any computer at all because of how inappropriate they are and how easy they are to get to. However, we have certain things blocked on our school computers that I find any reason at all as to why they are within the standards of being blocked. Many of them are simple game sites that have such games as Scrabble, not even games that are vulgar or inappropriate. For example, freshgames.com ,bored.com, or myspace.com all have quizzes, fun games, and opportunities to explore our blogging techniques that pass time in between assignments in computer classes when we are given free time to explore the web. But instead, everything is blocked and we find ourselves on google.com typing in "Jennifer aniston's hair styles" and instead are able to access nude pictures! I am a little confused how we can access these things but are not able to play family games online when our teacher has clearly given us permission to do so!

Senior Year
by taytortot

Hey everyone! I'm a senior now and everything still feels the same as it did when I was a freshman... except the work is alot harder. I'm glad I'm graduating this year though. But I'm gonna miss all of my friends and classmates so much because I probably wont see them after May. I'm gonna miss the classes and I'm gonna miss the teachers. But I'll tell you one thing that I wont miss, and thats getting up every morning at 6:50 a.m. to get ready for school. This year is off to a great start and I can't wait to get it over with! But I'm really looking forward to experiencing every minute of it. I love you guys!

Parent Night
by rnrickman

Every new school year things change and some things stay the same. This year i think one thing that should change is the whole Parent Night thing at the last home football game. What usually happens is everyone who is a football player, cheerleader, and in the band gets introduced before the game, well what about the other people who aren't in any of that but play other sports?!? I think everyone who plays sports should get acknowledged for what they've done. Another thing that would be easier to do is just let it be Senior parent night then you wouldn't have to worry about a ton of people being out there b/c eventually the other people will be seniors too. This is just a thought though and I think it's something to be considered!

The Drought
by hlblair

So....get this. You know how people always say you never know what you've got until it's gone? I'm really starting to understand that saying now. Yes, I'll admit. I'm not a big fan of rain. I'd rather have sunshine. But not EVERYDAY for 3 months straight! Now my opinion is changing about the sun. I'd rather see rain today because I haven't seen it in so long. I almost think I've forgotten the way rain looks, feels, and smells. I can guarantee you that whenever it rains, you will see me outside playing, singing, and dancing in happiness and joy!

Blocked Websites!?!?!?!?!
by shorty

I understand that there are many websites that should be blocked, but the other day i tried to look up my vocabulary word on dictionary.com, and when I clicked on the Thesaurus to get synonyms for my word, and it read YOUR ACESS HAS BEEN DENIED. Thats RIDICULOUS!!!
